I could sense danger 50 feet away...I existed in this vacuum...it all appears to be a grayish brown to me and totally routine, depressingly routine, including the violence...I can hate every damn guard I had in the concentration camps, with equal fervor, but I am not going to hate the Germans because otherwise, I become like those guards...
